How to deal with big changes in your life

Updated: Nov 30, 2018

Growth doesn't happen when we are stagnant, it happens when our lives are shifting and changing. This can often feel overwhelming in the moment, and we may not always be able to associate change with positive forward momentum. However, every step, every change, is moving us forward and presenting an opportunity for growth.

In the midst of major life changes we experience shifts in our routines, thoughts, emotions and perceptions. It can often feel like our world has been turned upside down. In some instances we perceive these life changes as positive, like giving birth to a new born baby, or buying a new home. Other shifts we experience as negative, such as a relationship ending or loosing a job.

Consider that the only difference is how we perceive the experiences. The first two we view as opening us to new possibilities; the possibility of a family and new loving connections and the possibility of a permanent residence that we can grow our family in and make our own, a safe space. The last two we percieve as loss or endings.

What if we were able to look at ALL major life changes as new possibilities, openings in which we can create something new and exciting. Wether we loose a job and now have the opportunity to follow our true hearts desire creating the life we've dreamed of living, or give birth to our first child and have the opportunity to love and nourish a new little soul.

The only constant in life is change, and thank goodness for that! If left to our own devices we might never move forward or challenge ourselves to create and generate our lives the way we truly desire. Perhaps the changes that occur wether viewed as positive or negative are really just nudges from the universe.
